Janet Kay Hemming, a seasoned public relations executive and entrepreneur, was appointed Executive Director of the Widtsoe Foundation Aug. 1. She was Vice President of Advertising and Public Relations at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake and served as Acting Deputy Director of the U.S. Information Agency in the Reagan Administration. While there she was responsible for promoting the Central American Scholarship, the Artistic Ambassadors programs and Director Charles Wick’s successful Zamyatin Initiative that impacted U.S.–Soviet relations. She also held senior public relations positions with AT&T Wireless, BYU, and Nu Skin International.
Hemming founded a public relations company, JKH Associates, which served national and regional clients in dozens of industries. She was a speechwriter for government, corporate and college executives spanning more than 15 years. Five of those speeches appeared in Vital Speeches of the Day. Hemming received more than a dozen professional awards for her speeches and professional work and has been actively involved in community service with the Children’s Service Society, the Alzheimer’s Association and the BYU Management Society.
